79% Plan to Pursue New Job Opportunities as the Economy Improves

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 18, 2012
FPCs latest Workplace Web Poll Data indicates that the employment marketplace may be in for a shake-up in 2012 as employees who see an improving job market start looking for new job opportunities.
Every quarter, FPC surveys professionals to gain insights on their perspective on workplace issues and trends. Todays report is published as part of FPCs 2011 Year in Review, which includes a special video interview with Marc Cenedella, founder & CEO of TheLadders.com, regarding the state of recruiting in the economic recovery.
Of the approximately 1,500 professionals who responded to the survey, a strong majority indicated that they were planning to look for a new job when the job market improves (79%). Half of the survey responders felt that they had gained marketable skills and lack advancement opportunities in their current position. Employers actions in tough economic times seem to be playing a role in employees plans for 2012, as 28% indicated they would move on at least in part due to how their employer treated its employees during the recession, while 8% stated that they were well treated and planned to stay put. Continuing insecurity caused 10% of respondents to indicate they were being cautious and waiting for even greater improvements in the job market before seeking out other opportunities.
Additionally, over two-thirds of the respondents who were unemployed at the time of the survey felt that their employment status did not impact the hiring decision of the employers with whom they interviewed. Within the 24% of respondents who indicated that they thought employers were reluctant to consider them due to their unemployment, 8% were specifically told that being unemployed put them at a disadvantage compared to other job candidates.
Finally, respondents proved relatively indifferent to work-life balance perks either as a selling point for a new position or as a keeping feature for their current employment. Half of respondents indicated that perks such as casual Fridays, free lunches, and company-sponsored events were important to them, but would not dissuade them from considering a new position that did not offer them. 41% of respondents replied that it did not matter to them whether their employer offered those perks.
Responders surveyed during the months of October, November, and December 2011, across all industries and job levels, answered the following questions:
Are you planning to look for a new job when the job market improves?”

Mobile Entertainment Guru Marjorie DeHey Daleo Earns Spot on Mobile Marketers Top 25 List

Beverly Hills, California (PRWEB) January 18, 2012
Mobile Marketer has named Marjorie DeHey Daleo into the upper echelon of professional women expected to influence the mobile entertainment and media industry for the better in 2012.
Recently, Ms. DeHey Daleo was named as one of 25 rising stars among women in mobile entertainment marketing, in Mobile Marketers December 2011 issue. Mobile Marketer is a premier news publication focused on the mobile marketing, media and commerce industries. I am extremely honored to be listed amongst this group of my peers, whom I greatly respect. I thank Mobile Marketer for the wonderful job it does of educating the next generation of women about all of the great careers in the mobile industry, said Ms. DeHey Daleo.
Ms. DeHey Daleo is currently the North American General Manager for MEF, a global community for mobile content and commerce, and a Partner at MediaMojos, an international entertainment and mobile media consulting firm. Marjorie credits her numerous industry successes to her ability to grasp the shifting complexities inherent to the mobile marketing and media environment. Adapting to the industrys fast-paced technological changes and developing a sharp eye for emerging opportunities has allowed me to help my clients capture and retain a competitive edge, she said.
Ms. DeHey Daleo brings more than 15 years of digital media and mobile entertainment experience to her clients and business partners. As highlighted in the Mobile Marketer interview, one of Ms. DeHey Daleos crowning achievements was helping to grow the Irish telecom and entertainment industries over the course of four years, expanding their total revenue by over $ 75 million.
She began her career at MGM Studios, where she worked on the original interactive products for the James Bond series. As a strategist, I recognized that it is crucial for companies to be willing to experiment, take chances and evolve with emerging technologies, she said. My most effective mobile campaigns have been with companies willing to take a chance. If you want to boost end-user activity (and revenues), you have to think like a consumer and really understand why they use your product or service. There is so much competition out there, you have less than 15 seconds to impress your end user – thus, you need to be smart and different.
Ms. DeHey Daleo is a graduate of UCLAs Anderson School of Business MBA program, where she majored in Marketing. She also earned her Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Cornell University and her JD from California Western. Ms. DeHey Daleos successes are a testament to her commitment to improving the mobile entertainment and media industry on behalf of her clients. She is dedicated to using her expertise to contribute to a conducive atmosphere between technology and media. Hiring for Cloud Computing Skills Grows 61%

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 05, 2012
Over the past 90 days, employers and staffing firms placed more than 10,000 job ads that included requirements for cloud computing skills and experience, according to WANTED Analytics (http://www.wantedanalytics.com), the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. More than 2,400 companies posted job ads during this 90-day period and hiring demand grew 61% year-over-year. Computer Specialists and Programmers are most commonly required to have cloud computing experience. However, as cloud-based software increasingly impacts additional areas of business, other fields are more commonly required to understand and work with cloud-based applications. Other jobs that most often include these skills in job ads include Marketing Managers, Sales Managers, Customer Service Representatives, and Cargo and Freight Agents.
The metropolitan area with the highest volume of job ads for cloud computing skills during the past 90 days was San Francisco, California. Recruiters in this area placed more than 1,000 unique job listings, representing a 95% year-over-year growth. Other cities with high demand included Seattle, San Jose, Washington, DC, and New York. Of these five locations with the most hiring demand for cloud skills, San Jose was the only location to see a year-over-year decline in the volume of online job postings. Recruiters in the San Jose area posted 12% fewer job ads than in the same 90-day period last year.
Recruiting conditions for cloud computing skills are likely to be moderately difficult with conditions varying based on the talent supply and hiring demand in each location. According to the Hiring Scale, Recruiters sourcing for openings in Washington, DC are likely to experience one of the most difficult recruiting conditions in the United States. It is likely that Recruiters in the Washington, DC metropolitan area will see a longer time-to-fill since job ads are posted online longer than the national average of 44 days (or just over 6 weeks.)
The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.

Hot Christmas Kindle & Nook E-book Thrillers Now Available on Amazon, Apple, and Barnes & Noble
Hot Christmas Kindle & Nook E-book Thrillers Now Available on Amazon, Apple, and Barnes & Noble
Los Angeles, & New York (PRWEB) December 25, 2011
Top book critics and readers are praising three page-turning, inspirational thrillers including CHASING THE CYCLONE, THE DEN OF THE ASSASSIN, and CLONING CHRIST written by best-selling geopolitical thriller writer Peter Thomas Senese that are now available in E-book format on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other e-retailers.
Several of Amazon’s elite book reviewers – members of Amazon’s renown HALL OF FAME reviewers are praising best-selling author’s Peter Thomas Senese’s recently released E-book international legal thriller CHASING THE CYCLONE as an electrifying story fans of high suspense thrillers should read. CHASING THE CYCLONE is presently available exclusively as an E-book on Amazon in E-book through the Christmas Holiday Season. Senese’s deeply personal novel will be released in hardcover in early January, 2012.
Peter Thomas Senese’s new book release CHASING THE CYCLONE has caused more than a handful of critics and readers to develop deeply frustrating and angry emotions that they have actually thrown or wanted to throw the author’s riveting international legal thriller or their e-book reader against a wall, a door, or through a window. Ordinarily, an author would not have any desire to have a reader’s feelings erupt to the point of physical action, unless of course, the storyline is intended to touch the reader’s nerve in such a way that they feel the need to physically act.
Inspired by the best-selling author’s own experiences racing into the storms of child abduction, Amazon’s critics have called “Chasing The Cyclone” ‘a Call-To-Arms against this worldwide epidemic and Peter Thomas Senese as a master storyteller’.
Amazon Hall of Fame book reviewer Daniel Jolley commented, “Chasing The Cyclone” isn’t just a powerful novel; it’s a call to arms against a growing epidemic that is tearing lives apart behind the headlines… “Chasing The Cyclone” is much more than just a superb, can’t-put-down novel, though; it is a book with a purpose… Thomas has become an outspoken advocate on this issue, and ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ makes for a clear and profoundly effective call to action. I would go so far as to encourage every loving parent to read this book, as the bond between this father and son is one to be emulated…”
Amazon Hall of Fame book reviewer Harriett Klausner added, . . . “This is an exciting cautionary thriller that grips readers from the onset . . . “Chasing The Cyclone” will shake the audience, this exciting cautionary thriller grips readers from the onset…”
Dr. Grady Harp, a highly respected Amazon Hall Of Fame book reviewer said, “Peter Thomas Senese now opens the windows on the magnitude of these tragedies in his excellent “Chasing The Cyclone”… As if the fast paced energy of this story weren’t enough to satisfy the reader, Peter Thomas Senese demonstrates his quality as a writer of distinction on many levels… this impossible to put down book…”
Additionally, Amazon Top Book Reviewer Shelley Gammon added, “Chasing the Cyclone” is the second book I’ve read by Peter Thomas Senese, and like “The Den of the Assassin,” it’s a real page turner… This was a book I could not put down. Thomas has a gift in writing a compelling novel that not only keeps the reader engaged, but educates as well.”
Added Peter Thomas Senese, “Chasing The Cyclone” is an entertaining book many readers have connected to as it is a serious legal thriller that hits a nerve with our desire to love our children best we can.”
In the wake of recent international events, including Iran’s capture of a U.S. drone spy plane by possible cyber-hacking combined with Russia’s immediate protective agreement to develop major oil fields in southern Iran, along with the death of North Korea’s isolationist dictator, Kim Jong, II, author Peter Thomas Senese is pleased to announce the release of his geopolitical thriller The Den of the Assassin on e-book.
The multi-dimensional plot is set on Wall Street and is based upon historical events that jettison the reader on a thrilling global geopolitical journey into the hidden and unseen worlds that exists within nations that have different global agendas than the United States and the West, including but not limited to China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Most concerning, as each nation has become more reliant on one another in our global society, a new level of extraordinary vulnerability to our national security has been created, one perhaps we may not be prepared for. In The Den of the Assassin, believe readers will find the uniquely accurate information on this subject that is carefully weaved through an intricate, entertaining storyline to be quite fascinating – and disturbing.
Amazon Hall of Fame book reviewer Daniel Jolley stated, “This is one seriously good thriller. Billed as “a novel of international finance and espionage,” Den of the Assassin is a super-realistic exploration of frightening possibilities, unsurpassed heroism, Lucifer-like evil, and terrorism of the worst kind . . . Peter Thomas Senese does a masterful job traversing the inner hallways of diverse institutions as he slowly brings all of these diverse elements together for a slam-bang climax … “Peter Thomas Senese displays a wealth of knowledge of geopolitics, espionage, and international finance, describing all the technical intricacies of the story’s elements and implications with great attention to detail -without ever letting the pace get bogged down or become confusing to the reader. He also keeps a number of secrets close to the vest, saving them for just the right time in the story . . . Many a writer of thrillers seem to drop the ball somewhere in the middle of their novels, but Peter Thomas Senese’s’ knowledge of geopolitics, international finance, and 21st century terrorist threats keeps the fires of detailed complexity and story evolution stoked and red-hot for the entire ride. Tyler Boxter is no James Bond, but Den of the Assassin proves to be just as exciting as any 007 caper – and much more realistic.”
Peter Thomas Senese commented, “In THE DEN OF THE ASSASSIN it was my hope and intent to create a historical novel readers will not want to put down due to a cleverly created plot combined with a high dose of important facts and information that I believe important to share that when combined, drives the story in a way that both entertains, educates, and causes my readers to think about the subject matter presented. As our global society continues to shift, the subject matter presented in THE DEN OF THE ASSASSIN is highly relevant.”
Cloning Christ, Peter Thomas Senese’s theological thriller that asks the question, “What would you do if you held the potential True Cross of Jesus in your hands, and it contained blood and hair strains on it? has had readers from around the world talking about the endless possibilities Senese brings out in his novel that pushes the question of where and how science and faith can co-exist in today’s world.
Amazon Hall Of Fame book critic Harriett Klausner commented, “Fans will relish this thriller. The tale is loaded with action yet uses the characters as symbols of mankind similar to a medieval passion play like Everyman. The cast represents the faithful, the disbelievers, the dividers (torn between science and religion) or the selfish. “Cloning Christ” brings the debate of religion vs. science to the forefront in an exciting manner that focuses on the sacredness of life.”

Paraplegic Muscular Dystrophy Patient Seeks Cannabis to Alleviate Pain on Discovery Channel?s ?Weed Wars? Episode 3
Paraplegic Muscular Dystrophy Patient Seeks Cannabis to Alleviate Pain on Discovery Channel’s “Weed Wars” Episode 3
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2011
Episode 3 of “Weed Wars,” the new Discovery Channel series about Oakland cannabis club Harborside Health Center, will air on Thursday, December 17th at 10 pm. This episode, according to Barborside, includes the moving account of a wheelchair-bound paraplegic patient with muscular dystrophy taking for first dose of medical marijuana to relieve her pain.
Muscular dystrophy is a hereditary condition marked by progressive weakening and wasting of the muscles that gets worse over time. Being religious and conservative, the patient never imagined she would use marijuana. But her prescribed medications ceased to deliver adequate relief, and in desperation, she came to Harborside Health Center for help.
The episode comes on the heels of an article on Time.com by health writer Maia Szalavitz that discusses the results of a new study that indicates patients can safely use cannabis while taking opioid painkillers, and the combination allows them to take fewer pills.
The research results, according to the article, were published in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. The study tracked 21 patients living with chronic pain who were taking either long-acting morphine or Oxycontin twice a day. Adding marijuana to these opioid drugs reduced patients’ pain by an average of 27%. The inclusion of cannabis also did not significantly affect blood levels of the prescription drugs. If marijuana had raised those blood levels, it could have increased overdose risk.
With rising concerns about opioid overdose—the death toll associated with prescription painkillers has recently surpassed that of traffic accidents—the new findings are striking. While marijuana won’t replace opioids for the most severe pain, cannabis has advantages. For one, people can’t overdose on marijuana. For another, the risk of becoming addicted to the drug are markedly lower than the risk associated with opioid use.
Harborside says further study should be conducted to determine which patients would benefit most, and to what extent marijuana can actually reduce opioid use. Unfortunately, the Obama administration is currently engaged in a crackdown on marijuana dispensaries in the 16 states that have legalized medical use. Harborside believes the money the government is spending on fighting the states could be used on research.
Not just a Bay Area medical marijuana dispensary, Harborside Health Center provides free services such as acupuncture, chiropractic treatments, yoga and counseling as part of Harborside’s holistic approach to patients’ health. Currently, Harborside provides patients approximately 1,820 hours of holistic health services each year—which has an estimated value of $ 227,500, or 10 percent of the dispensary’s yearly net income.
Harborside assists patients who cannot afford the medicine they need. The Oakland medical cannabis club has donated over $ 643,000 in free medicine to its qualified low-income members over the past four years through its Care Package program. Harborside also offers weekly seminars to teach patients how to grow their own medicine.
Another way Harborside has helped patients financially is through its Rewards Card program. When the State Board of Equalization ruled in 2006 that dispensaries must pay sales tax, Harborside immediately implemented the program to help mitigate the extra cost the sales tax created.
Harborside believes in supporting the community and helping people stand up for their rights. Over the last four years, the health center has donated over $ 340,000 to other cannabis-related non-profit organizations and efforts to better the local community. At Harborside’s in-house Patient Activist Resource Center, patients are taught basics of activism and lobbying, and in turn, they receive a free gram of medicine for each hour worked.
These practices have earned Harborside industry-wide accolades and media attention. The New York Times calls Harborside “a model for the medical marijuana industry,” while Fortune Magazine says Harborside is showing “the rest of the nation how such an establishment could provide top-flight patient services, adhere to the letter of the law, and interact with the surrounding community beneficially.”
Discovery Channel’s “Weed Wars” focuses on Oakland’s Harborside Health Center—which has set the gold standard for medicinal cannabis dispensaries in the nation—and the leadership behind Harborside: activist, founder and Executive Director Steve DeAngelo. DeAngelo’s lifelong mission has been to bring the truth about the cannabis plant to the American public.
The show follows the DeAngelo family and Harborside’s staff as they fearlessly wrestle with the complex issues they face every day. The series accurately captures the real-life drama and high stakes of the California-voter-approved business as federal agencies make increasingly harsher threats and IRS audits attempt to shut down the Oakland cannabis dispensary.
In addition to focusing on Steve DeAngelo, his family and the staff, “Weed Wars” follows the journey of the plant itself from seed germination to harvesting. Audiences will meet the growers and “patient farmers” whose job it is to provide the “medicine” that will be eventually purchased and used by thousands of clients, many of whom feel their lives have been forever changed by the plant.
Discovery has announced it will rerun last week’s controversial episode “Federal Crackdown” immediately prior to the new episode.
About Harborside Health Center:
Founded by national cannabis leader Steve DeAngelo in 2005, Harborside Health Center is the not-for-profit model medical cannabis dispensary in the country. The Oakland holistic healing center and medical marijuana collective offers its 94,000 registered patients free holistic health services, lab-tested medicine and education.
“Out of the shadows and in to the light” epitomizes DeAngelo’s mission to enlighten the public on the many medicinal and therapeutic benefits of the plant. DeAngelo is recognized as a national leader and strategist of the cannabis reform movement. He speaks and writes widely on the subject. Harborside and DeAngelo are featured on “Weed Wars,” now airing on The Discovery Channel.
