PowerSheen Tire Brite a Tire Shine and PowerSheen Plastic Renu Stand Alone at SEMA 2011 – Great New Product That Lasts and Lasts for Months with No Oil or Sling
Wilder, Idaho (PRWEB) November 21, 2011
For years tires had to be covered with silicone tire shine which left oily and dirty surfaces. Now, car enthusiasts are excited and happy with PowerSheen Tire Brite. A new tire shine product that is water based and dries in only 5 minutes. PowerSheen Tire Brite is a two step process which involves a cleaning process to remove all silicone off the tire followed by a thin application of the coating. Just a single coat will do the job unless a higher shine is desired. Then only one more thin coat can be applied to create a higher shine and will last for months and months.
Users all over the nation have applied PowerSheen Tire Brite with much success and stand by its claim to last for months and detract brake dust and other contaminantes. The coating also protects tires from UV rays and preserves the tire rather than seeping into the rubber. Once one has used the PowerSheen Cleaner/Prep and removed all the silicone off their tires, and apply PowerSheen Tire Brite coating, enjoy a shine that lasts through the winter months and eliminates the weekly dressings.
Motorhome enthusiasts are also pleased with the product as they spend a great deal on tires as the sun bakes the silicone into the rubber. With PowerSheen Tire Brite a motorhome owner has only to coat the tires once every 4 months as the coating protects from sun and weather.
The product can be ordered directly at PowerSheen.com and shipped within 2 days.

Weed Science Society of America Says Flooding Along Our Nation?s Rivers Worsened by Invasive Weeds
Weed Science Society of America Says Flooding Along Our Nation’s Rivers Worsened by Invasive Weeds
Lawrence, KS (PRWEB) December 05, 2011
This year flooding has ravaged thousands of homes and businesses in communities across the U.S. And scientists say the prevalence of invasive weeds is one of the factors that may be contributing to the damage.
These foreign invaders are overrunning many vital “riparian” lands – the ecologically diverse natural habitats that run along the millions of miles of our nation’s waterways and help to prevent or moderate flooding.
“Healthy riparian areas populated by native plants can store thousands of gallons of water per acre,” says Linda Nelson, plant physiologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and former president of the Aquatic Plant Management Society. “They filter the water that flows into a stream after a storm or snow melt and can also mitigate the effects of river flooding. But unfortunately the protection capacity of many of our vital riparian areas is being degraded by invasive weeds.”
The native plant species typical of a healthy riparian corridor prosper there and have dense root systems to hold soil in place and protect against erosion. As a result, the soil is highly permeable and can absorb water entering the river and overflowing the banks. Healthy riparian land can even improve water quality as dense, native vegetation absorbs potential contaminants and traps sediment.
But weeds that overrun native riparian vegetation can change everything and seriously degrade our nation’s valuable water resources. Common invaders include reed canarygrass(Phalaris arundinacea), saltcedar (Tamarix aphylla) and leafy spurge(Euphorbia esula).
Another good example is knotweed, an aggressive species from Asia introduced here as an ornamental. The most common varieties of this troublemaker include Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum), giant knotweed (P. sachalinense), Himalayan knotweed (P. polystachyum) and a Japanese and giant knotweed hybrid (P. X Bohemicum). Knotweeds have been spotted in 41 states and are becoming a real threat to riparian areas, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
Knotweed roots are far less dense than those of native plants and are unable to hold soil firmly in place. When knotweed invades a riparian zone, stream banks become unstable and soil is stripped away. This scouring effect can actually shift a stream channel, create a sloping bank and result in significantly more sediment in the water. It also reduces the ability of both the riparian zone and the stream to hold water – promoting flash floods during periods of heavy runoff.
Why is knotweed so successful at taking over? Like many riparian invaders, it can spread vegetatively, as well as by seed. Each plant produces an extensive network of underground rhizomes that can spread up to 65 feet in all directions. Tens of thousands of dormant buds on these underground stems can sprout new bamboo-like shoots that have been known to break through asphalt. “I’ve even seen a picture showing Japanese knotweed that had grown through someone’s living room floor,” says Timothy Prather, associate professor of weed science at the University of Idaho and a specialist in knotweed.
Even a small fragment of a root or stem can launch a new invasive weed colony. You need to proceed with care and use every tool in your weed control arsenal to control knotweed. Here are a few control tips and best management practices compiled by The Nature Conservancy. Some of these same techniques can be applied to other aggressive plant invaders:
Manual/mechanical control methods such as mowing, trimming, digging and pulling may work if you are persistent over a period of years. Your objective is to starve the root system, and that means staying ahead of new shoots that are produced from latent buds as you disrupt the plant. Be prepared to cut down or pull new shoots twice a month or more from April to August – and then at least once a month until first frost. Repeat the process annually until the knotweed no longer regrows. Also, keep stems that you pull, cut or mow out of the compost pile and well away from any nearby body of water. You don’t want the plant to spread to a new location.
Foliar herbicide applications may be appropriate for large infestations. Use only an herbicide approved for riparian use and take precautions to minimize drift. As with mechanical control measures, timing and persistence are important. Multiple applications may be needed to do the job.
New stem-injected herbicide techniques are showing great promise. A special tool is used to inject concentrated chemicals directly into a hollow in the knotwood stem. It’s a labor intensive process, though, making it best suited for small patches that are easily accessible.
“Reclaiming riparian areas and restoring native species can be vital to flood control, water quality and even wildlife habitat,” Prather said. “It is important that we focus on early identification of invasive weeds, understand their growth patterns and how they spread, and establish an effective management plan before it’s too late.”

University?s Doctor of Psychology Students Meet Critical Need for Mental Health Services for Low-income Population in Oregon
University’s Doctor of Psychology Students Meet Critical Need for Mental Health Services for Low-income Population in Oregon
Newberg, Ore. (PRWEB) November 17, 2011
It’s only taken a year for George Fox University’s Behavioral Health Clinic to emerge as a reliable provider of mental health care for the underserved and underinsured of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The numbers don’t lie.
The clinic, opened in February of 2009 and expanded to include pediatric care in the fall of 2010, offered mental health care services to nearly 300 individuals this year alone. And that’s only the beginning, as collectively 60 graduate students in the school’s doctor of psychology program (PsyD) provided 50,000 hours of free service in 20 clinic, health and community settings in 2011, according to data released by the university’s Graduate Department of Clinical Psychology this month.
Many of those hours came at the Behavioral Health Clinic. Directed by Dr. Joel Gregor, the clinic serves as an extension of the PsyD program and offers free and minimal-cost services to low-income citizens of Yamhill, Washington and Marion counties. Among the services offered are individual, couple’s and family therapy; psychological, psycho-educational and neurological assessments; parenting skills training; and a parenting advice line for parents dealing with problem behavior in their children.
“We have served clients as young as 4 years old and as old as 95, and we’ve been able to serve a variety of cultures, including Caucasian, Native American, Latino and LBGT clients,” Gregor said. “We hope to broaden our scope in the coming months.”
In addition to serving as a resource for the community, the clinic offers PsyD students on-the-job training. All student therapists are supervised by Gregor, a licensed psychologist, to ensure quality care.
“If you look at the numbers, it’s very obvious there is a tremendous need for these services in our area; we’ve continued to increase the size of the clinical staff (all doctoral students) in an effort to meet the increasing number of referrals,” said Mary Peterson, chair of George Fox’s Graduate Department of Clinical Psychology. “The majority of those who come to us are people who otherwise couldn’t afford behavioral healthcare. For many of our clients, the economic downturn led to a loss of work and/or health insurance, while increasing their physical and emotional stress.”
George Fox’s addition of the clinic came at an opportune time. According to the U.S. Census Bureau data (2005), the total population of Yamhill County is estimated at 93,901, with 11,909 living in poverty. Of the more than 11,000 living in need, it is estimated more than 3,900 are children 18 years and younger (17 percent of the total population). It is estimated that 20 percent of the total population has no health insurance.
Last fall’s expansion into pediatric care incorporated the addition of a bilingual pediatric call-in hour (a parenting hotline), a diagnostic program that provides assessments and evaluations, a pediatric obesity program, and parenting classes and groups.
The clinic originally opened at the university’s Villa Academic Complex in 2009 and specialized in assisting low-income county residents in need of individual and couples therapy, mental health consultation, parenting counseling, and diagnostic assessment. The clinic has since moved to the Wright House, located directly across the parking lot from the complex at 501 N. Villa Road in Newberg, Ore.
For those accessing the services, the fees are nominal or waived. The clinic operates Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. “(The clinic) coincides with our mission as a university – to serve the underserved around us,” Peterson said.
Community members can arrange an appointment by calling 503-554-2368.
George Fox University is ranked by Forbes and Kiplinger’s among the top Christian colleges in the country and is a Christian university classified by U.S. News & World Report as a first tier regional university and a “Best Value” school. More than 3,500 students attend classes on the university’s campus in Newberg, Ore., and at teaching centers in Portland, Salem, and Redmond, Ore., and Boise, Idaho. George Fox offers bachelor’s degrees in more than 40 majors, degree-completion programs for working adults, five seminary degrees, and 11 master’s and doctoral degrees.

Boise, Idaho…still Racist?
Boise, Idaho…still Racist?
Boise, Idaho has a long lived, storied history of perceived racism from United States citizens throughout our great country. I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan the home of our late President Gerald R. Ford. I grew up in a place where my mother was pitcher for our neighborhood softball team referred to as the ghetto all-stars. I am African-American and graduated from Mountain Home High School in Idaho where I played for former Olympic Basketball great Ed Palubinskas.
Boise, Idaho…well, let’s start by saying its definately a territory of very few African-americans, but, there’s alot of hispanics, well just speaking with regards to any other race besides caucasians throughout the state of Idaho. Cheering abruptly for the Boise State University Broncos, these days, is what it’ all about, as far as the Boiseans are concerned. Revenue, revenue, revenue!
Lots of dollars are generated for the community of Boise and the “White Collar” guys of Boise’s corporate world, of which I get “stares and glares” from at the local Boise Family YMCA on a daily basis. Go figure, I look just like the very same kids at the skilled positions of Boise State Football and Boise State University Basketball, that they (whites) cheer for on a weekly basis. Oh, forbid the cheering is due to money being wagered or won after victories, or influenced by the alcoholic stimulation of a few cans of Coors Light! Regardless, it goes without saying, I spend my fair share of time at Boise State University and I personally, do not see congratulatory hand shakes or appreciative gestures being given by community citizens to African-american players, ever. I cannot remember the last time I heard former Boise State University and NBA player, Chris Child’s name on the radio or news, and he’s a multi-millionaire! I guess no one in Boise, has ever gotten a hand-out from him…even just a little…say, 0,000 to ,000,000! 227′s Boise Taters-The YouTube Joint!
The fact that community melting pots of visitors and local traffic like the Boise Public Library, Boise’s Main Post Office, and even …the local media, including television (KTVB Channel 7, KIVI Channel 6, and KBCI Channel 2), radio and print, do not employ african-americans on a consistent basis, worries me. The reason being, one would conclude, that african-americans are either turning down job offers from these organizations (a means of earning a living) or simply not being offered the postions in the first place (that’s so 1960-ish)! I would be willing to bet ,000,000 that job offers made to african-american kids in college during their enternships or after, would be received with welcome arms as a way to provide for themselves and their families, regardless of whether the position is located in pre-dominantly “white” Boise, Idaho. In other words, the jobs are not being offered and definately not interviews. The last time I saw an african-american reporting the news in Boise, I think Milli Vanilli was still perceived as REAL!
Either way Racism stems from the dinner tables of ignorance. By generations of ignorant people who have simply not seen enough Martin Luther King Jr.s, Harriet Tubmans, Jackie Robinsons, and oh yeah…Barack Obama our Nation’s First Black President. Please, just one time, give me the opportunity to see an African-american news reporter or journalist. Please, just one time, give me the chance to see a former black Boise State athlete featured on the radio (instead of some ‘half-way’ from Fruitland, Idaho that I’ve seen at a local sporting event puttin down 8 beers and then driving his wife and kids home), please, just one time, give me the chance to give my postal order to an African-american at the Boise Local Post Office.
Get this…I have not sat in the Boise YMCA Local Hot Tub with over 5 different African-americans (the catch is, I’ve been a member for nearly a decade, and I’m in the hot-tube 3-4 days/wk)! In other words, we (African-americans), are still foreign to Boiseans, still less to Boiseans, still un-President-like to Boiseans, still…is Boise still racist?
I can’t help but imagine if Boise State senior, “Bush” Hamdan who’s real name is something like Jibran (arabic), were not benched in favor of the Freshman Quarterback Kellen Moore, if ticket sales or the number of wins would have dropped. In other words, with Boise State’s Football schedule…my grandmother could have played quarterback and led them to the Rose Bowl! Why not give an ethical endorsement of sorts to a senior (even though his name is from the roots of Islam). I thought, when he changed his name to “BUSH” they’de surely give him the nod…NOT!!!
How bout’ when African-american quarterback Nate Sparks of Boise State (also during his senior year) was benched in favor of a sophomore who led the team to what anyone could have done based on their schedule. In other words, it always seems to be a rally cry for ”whites” of Boise in terms of who gets cold shouldered for the position of quarterback at Boise State University. You can’t tell me that the ethical responsibility to justly treat our communities beloved athletes is being adhered to at Boise State University. Listening to conversations throughout Boise; my take is that so many Boiseans are forgetting that, these are kids! Some of the comments I here at local venues showing the games on television are ubsurd!
Let’s not forget the turn-out when Barack Obama came to Boise’s Taco Bell Arena. I was there, on that cold, cold, blistering morning. Husbands of wives who’d gotten them out of warm beds during the early A.M hours of the morning were “Ticked Off” to say the least. None-the-less, they stood there, in line for a very lengthly time. In fact by the time I got to the doors, my fingers felt like a frozen snicker bar when it’s the only thing left in the freezer with no company!
Everyone hip-hop-hoorayin, takin pictures, smilin, laughin, shakin hands like crazy. Oh yeah…Obama lost the State of Idaho by the 2nd largest margin of any State in America (the front-runner was Utah and trust me, Boiseans almost seem envious of that)! 227′s Boise Taters-The YouTube Joint!
Is Boise still racist? Ask African-americans with college degrees who’ve applied for basic bank teller positions in Boise, only to find white kids or even hispanic (anything but African-american) with GED’s received the position; ask African-americans with college degrees who’ve applied for basic production jobs at Micron Technology or Hewlette Packard, only to find white kids or even hispanics (anything but African-american) with GED’s received the position (that’s so 1960-ish); ask African-americans with college degrees who’ve applied for basic entry level jobs at even temporary services, only to find white kids or even hispanics (anything but African-american) with GED’s (and in some cases not even a ‘green-card!’) received the position (that’s so 1960-ish); ask African-americans with college degrees who’ve applied for basic entry level tele-marketing jobs at local Boise Telephone companies etc., only to find white kids or even hispanics (anything but African-american) with GED’s received the position (that’s so 1960-ish); well… it’s a good thing Idaho only represents 4 electorals during presidential elections, or Barack wouldn’t be in! And that brings me to this…why was there such a huge turn-out for a man who no-one in Idaho seemingly voted for? Is he that attractive (that’s so 1960-ish)? Is he that creative (that’s so 1960-ish)? Is he that assertive (that’s so 1960-ish)? Is he our nation’s 1st Black President married to our nations very, very, very first AFRICAN-AMERICAN FIRST LADY (that’s so…2009)?

7 Reasons to Move to Idaho
7 Reasons to Move to Idaho
If you were to tell your friends that you were planning to move to Idaho you would undoubtedly raise an eyebrow or two. Tell your friends the reasons you are making the move to Idaho though and you may just persuade one or two of them to come with you.
Idaho is a state that offers much more than potatoes. Idaho is a state littered with small towns. In fact its largest city, which is Boise, has a population of just 200,000, while its second largest city, Nampa has around 64,000. Besides the tranquility that comes with small-town living, a move to Idaho can be a very rewarding one.
While there are a number of reasons to move to Idaho, there are seven reasons that just jump off the page:
1. Crime Rate: Idaho has some of the lowest crime in the west according to the FBI. The serious crime rate in Idaho is 21.3 percent less than the national average.
2. Cost of Living: Idaho’s cost of living is the second lowest of the 11 western states when factoring in things such as housing costs, health care, groceries, and other factors.
3. Housing: Idaho has a diverse and affordable number of dwellings to choose from. In Idaho you can find anything from a cozy cottage all the way up to an elaborate estate. Median home values in Idaho are among the lowest in the nation.
4. Education: Education is a top priority in Idaho with 64 percent of the state’s general fund dedicated to education. For college bound individuals, Idaho boasts a college or university in almost every city that has over 20,000 residents and has several top-rated vocation schools as well. Idaho also ranks third among the 50 states with most adults over age 25 that have graduated from high school.
5. Jobs and Employment: Idaho has a strong economy with manufacturing and agriculture as its top two draws. Also strong in the Idaho jobs market are high-tech, retail, tourism, and health care.
6. Taxes: When comparing the largest city in every state, Idaho is lower in taxes than 30 other states for a family that earns ,000 per year.
7. The great outdoors: This is perhaps the biggest reason to move to Idaho. Because Idaho is filled with mountains, there are many different activates for the outdoor enthusiast. From hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, skiing in the winter, and even mountain climbing, if outdoor thrills are your thing, then Idaho is for you.
The reasons to move to the beautiful state of Idaho are truly limitless. While Idaho may not be a flashy name when it comes to the different states it does offer its own flare. It seems Idaho, like many things in this world, is a hidden gem. Idaho offers much of a big city lifestyle but you can still enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of a small-town. Based on the population figures there are not many people that are considering a move to Idaho, but if they knew the facts you better believe they would.
