G4S Technology LLC (formerly Adesta), a systems integrator and project management company for communication networks and electronic security systems, has been awarded a $ 2.3M contract from the Port of Tacoma, one of the largest container ports in North America to perform security systems integration services.
This contract will include engineering, project management and system configuration turn-up and testing in the Port facilities and port-operated terminals. The contract includes an enhanced Access Control system with TWIC readers, and a new Video Management System with Video Analytic capabilities. The work is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2012.
In 2010 the Port handled 1.5 million containers, contributing to nearly $ 28 billion in international trade and about $ 3.5 billion in trade to Alaska. Port activities account for more than 43,000 jobs in Pierce county and 113,000 jobs in Washington State and contribute more than $ 90 million each year in state and local taxes.
