Severe Storm in Houston Causes Widespread Flood Damage

Houston, TX (PRWEB) January 10, 2012
In the wee hours of the morning yesterday, Jan. 9th, a massive storm system wreaked chaos along the southern part of the US. There were several areas affected by the storm, but Houston in particular was hit hard with torrential rains, hail, and even a tornado. Water Damage Local.com states that there have been several reports of water seeping into peoples’ homes, and even more reports of power outages in the area. Reporters from the Houston Chronicle posted on their blog that even 5 major Houston Independent School District campuses lost power in the wake of the storm. The storm system has stranded many people in their homes with no power and no way to leave, seeing as flash flooding has blocked many major roadways. The storm has moved east to other areas of the south and it is not 100% sure when the flooding will recede.
Houston flood restoration companies are experiencing a high volume of phone calls and are struggling to get technicians out to peoples’ homes. One nationwide disaster restoration network, Water Damage Local.com has promised to provide service to all those affected by the flash flooding, and are putting a lot of resources into making sure that people get taken care of promptly and properly. “We are experiencing a high volume of calls today, and I am sure they will continue into the latter part of the week,” said Water Damage Local.com employee, Joel Kanzelmeyer, when asked yesterday about the scope of the damage, “We are dedicated, however, to taking care of all of our customers and will continue to track the storm system for the next few days. We are able to handle any and all jobs, so if you have been affected and cannot find someone to come out and take care of you, don’t hesitate to give us a call.”
The storm system is expected to move through Louisiana and start to fizzle out as it moves into Alabama and even as far as Georgia. While not the biggest storm this part of the country has seen, this storm system has caused a lot of issues for Houston residents. Thousands of people are without power and it has halted businesses from operating in many parts of the city. It is so bad in some parts of the area, such as Richmond, that the police department is having to evacuate people by boat. There have been no injury reports filed thus far and hopefully it remains that way.
For those who have been affected by the storm, once again, Water Damage Local.com is providing 24 hour emergency service and can take on all jobs. To contact them visit their website at http://www.waterdamagelocal.com.

eQuest Releases Employment Index Results for November 2011
eQuest Releases Employment Index Results for November 2011
San Ramon, CA – London (PRWEB) December 20, 2011
eQuest today announced its employment findings for November 2011 as published in its Employment Index, which can be viewed in its entirety at:
http://www.equest.com/news/employment-index-us/
http://www.equest.com/news/employment-index-uk/
The United States eQuest Employment Index showed continued positive movement in the recruitment space moving forward to 102.44 from 102.03. This gain was achieved in November with strong hiring in the retail and additional season positions. The additional job posting were accompanied by an increase in applicant traffic which somewhat slowed the index growth.
Outside of the retail industry the number of new job requisitions was spread across a wide span of industries in the US demonstrating continued consistency of minimal but steady growth. The healthcare industry again showed the strong growth in both regions through the month with a significant increase in overall job postings. Production and manufacturing-based industries continue to occupy the bottom of the Employment Index driven by a continued lack of a significant number of new positions being added to the marketplace. Geographically, states with the highest hiring demand in November were Idaho, New Mexico and Arizona while Missouri, Mississippi and Alabama showed the lowest demand indices.
The United Kingdom saw an expected uptick in job postings but this was again reversed by a larger increase in the applicant traffic across the region. The result was a small decline in the in the UK Index from 98.38 to 98.92. Growth has remained consistent across most industries throughout the year in the UK, however the results have varied greatly regionally. London continues to make the greatest gains in both posting and applicant traffic as the seasonal hiring has had the most positive effect. Eden, East Devon and Ryedale again posted the highest level of employee demand, while Nottingham, Kingston upon Hull and Liverpool remained at the bottom of the regional list for candidate demand.
“There is a positive sign in both regions as there was a significant increase in the posting volume across the majority of the segments”, said Mike Pauletich, Executive Vice President of Global Alliance and Customer Success for eQuest. “However, the other trend starting to show is an increase in the number of applicants, potentially entering back into the market now with more positions available. For this reason eQuest expects the Index to continue creeping slowly upward over the next months and not accelerate too quickly over the winter.”
About the eQuest Employment Index
The eQuest Employment Index shows the spending patterns of the Fortune 500 as measured by job posting activity month over month. The index derives its findings from algorithms based on the supply and demand of open positions posted to the internet relative to the number of responding candidates. A target index of 100 reflects relative balance in the number of applicants vying for each open position posted. The data to create the index is derived from thousands of monthly job posting transactions. Reporting includes analysis by geography and industry segment, using the US government’s Standard Occupational Codes (SOC) in major metropolitan areas, states and over 950 job classifications.
